SEASCAPES-ME THEA TO PELAGOS,
NEW CD BY THE CELTIC HARPIST AND SINGER PHIL HOLLAND,
DEDICATED TO THE ISLAND OF LEFKADA
THE CELTIC HARPIST AND SINGER,PHIL HOLLAND, WAS SO INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE ISLAND OF LEFKADA THAT SHE USED IT AS INSPIRATION FOR HER LATEST CD.
“SEASCAPES-ME THEA TO PELAGOS” IS DESCRIBED BY PHIL AS “A MAGICAL MEETING OF THE GREEK AND CELTIC CULTURES”. VASSILIKI BAY, IN PARTIULAR, INSPIRED THE PIECE, “VASSILIKI SEASCAPES”. PHIL’S COMPOSITION FOR CELTIC HARP BEAUTIFULLY EVOKES AN IMAGE OF THE SEA. IT IS A TONE POEM REPRESENTING VASSILIKI BAY AT THREE DIFFERENT MOMENTS DURING THE DAY; IN THE STILLNESS OF THE MORNING, THE ARRIVAL OF THE WIND IN THE AFTERNOON AND THE PEACE OF THE EVENING AS NIGHT FALLS. PHIL ALSO WROTE A SONG, USING THE WORDS OF THE POET DIMITRIOS SOLDATOS, CALLED LEFKADIA SAPFO, DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE POETESS SAPFO WHO LEAPT TO HER DEATH FROM LEFKATAS ROCK.
